Core Strengthening Class

Avante's evidence based core strengthening class is an exercise class designed to teach clients of all ages to contract the correct abdominal muscles while exercising and during daily activities. The transversus abdominus (TA) is the most targeted muscle throughout the class, which while contracted helps stabilize the spine. This method of core strengthening has been proven in research studies to provide improved control and stability to the lumbar spine. But this class is not only for patients with low back problems, it is challenging to even symptom free and athletic clients.

The class is a progression of eight one hour classes. We start with education of the basic techniques using mat and standing exercises and progress into use of equipment including bands, weighted balls, and exercise balls with our intermediate and advanced classes. Class size is limited to less than ten clients to improve the ability of the instructor to individually educate each client and to verify that all the exercises are performed correctly.
